George Glover

Swimming

  1. Grantee | November 2019

George has been swimming competitively for a while and has chosen this sport to highlight Mental Health through his ‘Black Dog Swim’ this ambitious project is where he will swim the Queen Charlotte Sound (over 200km in 10 days) and raise money for the charity ‘ I am Hope’ .

Outside swimming George is heavily involved in the Marlborough community – he is a member of the Climate Youth Action Team, a member of the Strategy Team for the NZ based School Strike for Climate. He has worked with the Board of Trustees at Marlborough Boys College (MBC) to present polices to reduce the MBC carbon footprint. He is unsure what lies in the future but is adamant he will continue to push himself from the comfortable to the uncomfortable.

Since attending Marlborough Boys’ College, George has been a leader in the schools Envirogroup and more recently in the Climate Youth Action Team. George shows wisdom beyond his years, has strong leadership skills, is enthusiastic and is still working to make a difference in both his school and the wider community. He is a young man of character and compassion.
