Brett has been playing bagpipes since he was 10 and started playing seriously at 17. In 2015, when he was 18, he was selected in the NZ Youth U21 Pipe Band and represented NZ at the Australian National Championships. Recently he was asked to join the Manawatu Scottish Society, Grade 1, to compete at the World Championships in Glasgow in August this year. He has also just been away with the New Zealand Youth Band in April 2018, where they won the Australian Championships. His aim is to become an A grade New Zealand Solo Piper and to be playing in one of the Elite Pipe Bands (consistent top 6 placing) at World Championships with his ultimate goal of winning a world title.
