Jack Flynn
Medicine
Jack has been sailing for only 4 years – he says it consumes 90% of his life and he would not have it any other way. In 2020 he won the South Island Regatta in the Open Class when he was just 15 and was 4th in the pre-Christmas World Event Selection Regatta in the U19 category. In 2020 he was one of 10 only selected for the AON Youth Training Programme and this year he ranked in the Top 5 Youth at the National competition in the U19 category. He is currently being mentored by Russell Coutts. Jack has big ambitions; he wants to be in the top 10 in the open class of the Laser Full Rig class, to go to the World Championships (Covid allowing) and in 5 years he wants to be selected for the Elite New Zealand Sailing Team to compete at the Olympics – he is determined that sailing will be his life.
