Katie’s footballing success at such a young age is incredible. Last year, aged 14, she made the NZ U16 team to play in the Oceania Championship in Tahiti, scoring the winning goal in extra time to qualify the team for the U17 World Cup tournament. She was the top goal scorer for the U18 Canterbury Pride team which took out the National Youth League last year, as well as winning the Emerging Talent Award at the Tasman Sports Awards. Katie’s 5 year goals include playing in two U20 World Champs, gaining a scholarship to a Division 1 Football University in America and her ultimate dream to make the 2027 NZ World Cup team. Katie’s grant will go towards the cost of attending the Wellington Phoenix Academy which is a youth development programme and pathway into professional football.
