Starting rowing initially to keep fit for basketball, Kobe decided after performing well at Maadi Cup in 2016 that rowing was to be his sport. Since then he trialled with the Central Regional High-Performance squad and was selected from this trial for the NZ Junior Rowing Team. He was successfully chosen to go to the Junior Worlds in the double held in Japan in August of this year where he and his boat mate won the FB final. His goals are to win a national title in the U20 and U22 category and to make the U21 rowing team to compete in Australia, and eventually rowing for New Zealand all over the world.
I have coached Kobe for the past year, and he is a talented, willing, committed and enthusiastic young athlete to work with and has a bright future in the sport of rowing. Kobe is honest, hardworking & reliable and committed to doing his best to achieve his goals in his sport. He is also great team person. Marion Horwell Central Coach
