Michelle began her musical journey by beginning piano lessons at the age of 6. It wasn't until she was 14 that she developed after being inspired by the senior violin students who would perform at local TEMPO concerts. She has loved Violin ever since. While in high school she learnt Violin from Karla Norton, and was lucky enough to have some lessons with Monique Lapins (Violinist in the New Zealand String Quartet) and Donald Armstrong (Associate Concertmaster of NZSO). She has been studying performance violin at Otago University with Tessa Petersen for the past 3 years. Michelle says music brings her much joy and fulfilment, and she loves sharing this with others through performing. In 2023 she was awarded the Dunedin Youth Orchestra's Young Musicians' Award, and was selected to perform as a concerto soloist with the Orchestra in 2024.
